The Ada and Eben is known to different southern communities by different names .it is used by both the Igbos,Yoruba, Itshekiri,ijaw and Bini people. Over the years it has been erroneously believed that it originated or produced by bini people, but with the understanding that Benin was a regional name given by the Portuguese in 15th century, a region inhabited by Igbos,Yoruba, Ijaw,Itshekiri, Bini people, it is Obvious that the symbol was probably produced by any of the inhabitants of this region or fashioned by the Portuguese themselves for use by the southern tribes.
