BALOGUN MARKET, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA ON FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 - GOVERNOR JIDE SANWOLU, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL, HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS - WHERE ARE YOU??? WHY THE OMINOUS SILENCE???

Just this morning, I raised the alarm of the silent baiting, killings, and destruction of properties belonging to the Igbos resident in Lagos state, Nigeria.

Barely six hours later, it is on the news that the popular Balogun market in Lagos state is on fire. This is following other fire incidents at different markets in Lagos state since the shambolic elections in February/March 2023, and the state/federal governments have remained mute.

There is no gainsaying the fact that the majority of the shops/properties in most of these markets in Lagos state are owned by the Igbos, and several social media pronouncements by some of the Yoruba influencers are inciting these dastardly acts being perpetrated by the criminal non-state actors and pseudo state actors.

We are, therefore, calling on the Lagos State Government, the Federal Government of Nigeria, Human Rights Activists, Amnesty International, Foreign Governments and Institutions to come to the rescue of the Igbos in this contraption called Nigeria.

We do not want to experience another genocidal massacre of the Igbos and the destruction of their properties in Nigeria. These unprovoked attacks and senseless lynching of a tribe, who are hard-working and focused towards making an honest living wherever they find themselves, is no longer tolerable.

Where is the Department of State Services that recently issued a statement about plans to disrupt peace in the country? How many of these known promoters of this ethnic cleansing have they arrested? Or is it that they do not consider what has been going on in Lagos State as disruption of peace?

Let it be on record that we are appealing to all relevant governments and institutions to make hay while the sun still shines. There really should be a limit to the oppression the Igbo ethnic stock are subjected to in Nigeria.

We appeal again - let wise counsel prevail and let it prevail now!!!

Signed:
Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC)
