Secret adoption of youths are ongoing in Amagu community, Oru East Local Government Area, Imo state. Ebubeagu and the Imo State governor’s special squad called Tiger Base are rampaging this peaceful community.

As we speak, there is a massive tension in the whole community of Amagu, a usually peaceful community in the east of Oru. Amagu is totally under siege and the few youths who were able to make their ways out are fleeing the community. Ebubeagu and Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Tiger Base squard are adopting and disappearing youths and high profile citizen of Amagu to an unknown destination.

Amagu is known for peace, a community that have skillful youths and so many skill working experiences. It is quite pathetic and deeply saddening that despite the honest efforts by the people of Amagu in maintaining civility amidst the complete denial of every physical developmental presence by the government of Imo State, Uzodimma still chose to humiliate and dehumanise Amagu People.

This is a distress. And according to our correspondent who is a native of Amagu and currently on ground, he and a few others that are still in the community does not sleep in their houses anymore, for fear of being whisked away in the middle of the night.

This mayhem has lasted for close to a month now and we are asking Imo government to follow due process of the law in handling civil matters. If they have anything against any individual or group of people, they should be professional in their conducts and never to instigate fears to the whole community. Going after people in the whim of the night and randomly disappearing anyone at sight is evil and should stop.

Also, chasing youths away from their ancestry land is a way of directly undermining the call for NdiIgbo to return home and build Igbo land to what it should be. If the Amagu people who are known for massive agricultural competitions among farmers within Akuma, Akatta and Nempi are now without many youths around as a result of this onslaught, is it not detrimental to the entire Igbo?

We urge all necessary Authorities to prevail on the Hope Uzodimma government of Imo state to as a matter of urgency, release all the innocent citizens of Amagu they kidnapped, and stop the night raid in Amagu community. Or better still, charge all the Amagu citizens in their custody to the court and allow the community breath free air.
