Simon is my friend . He does fridge repairs and 'egbe nkponala' business. His father did the 'egbe nkponala' business. Even the elder brother is also doing the same thing till today. They learnt it from their father as a family business. Even their children and wives have learnt the business too. There is no body in Umuaka who doesn't know them for this lucrative business when it comes to burials, chieftaincy title taking and other related occasions, including visits of prominent men like governors, presidents, bishops, etc.
The truth here is that he has land dispute with his brother.. They petitioned govt that Simon is a bomb maker for IPOB. Then police and EBUBEAGU came for him. They picked him from Imeafor where he does fridge work to his house. Went for searching in his house as the petitioners instructed. They found gun powder, and other materials he uses to make the 'nkponala' gun powder. With these findings, the rest simply became the big story you are reading about.
The big issue here is that Simon belongs to the faction of UMUEZIKEONYEAGOSI that said they are no longer part of UMUONYIRIEGBE. They don't recognize EZE and don't pay respect and royalty to EZE. They don't associate with UMUONYIRIEGBE and don't pay UMUONYIRIEGBE levies and dues.
They live like ostracised people in UMUONYIRIEGBE and UBA/Umuakah as a result of the above.
Consequently, no body came to identify with him. Not the chiefs, not the the village heads, not the town Union executives, or even Umuakah govt executives.
THE MOST PAINFUL THING HERE IS THAT THE LAND IN QUESTION IS HIS OWN FAMILY INHERITANCE. NOT PURCHASED LAND. HIS ELDER BROTHER SOLD IT BEHIND HIM.AND COOKED THIS FALSE ALLEGATION KNOWING THAT GUN POWDER AND CANONS ARE ALWAYS IN HIS POSSESSION.
