LETTER TO MIDDLE BELT

We’ve heard that some people want to divide Nigeria, but what’s puzzling is that Christians in the Middle Belt and North are still advocating for a united Nigeria. We recognize that some of these Christians are actually part of the Middle Belt, but are trapped in the North due to state creation. Similarly, groups like the Idoma, Igede, and Igala people, who are Biafrans, are also trapped in the Middle Belt.

Historically, the Middle Belt has sided with Fulani Islamists against their Christian brethren, despite the Aburi Accords that would have benefited them. The wounds from this betrayal are still open, but we’re willing to move forward for our collective survival.

We’re interested in the liberation of the Middle Belt, now or after Biafra is restored. However, we’re waiting for you to show willingness to be liberated. Instead, you’ve continued to advocate for a united Nigeria.

You don’t need a prophet to lead the liberation. Simply call a town hall meeting, draw a map of the Middle Belt, and declare your desire for freedom. This brave act will embolden others to raise their voices.

The Nigerian government won’t attack you, given the current US monitoring. The structure is already in place to support a referendum or warfare, if needed.

The Fulani agenda to Islamize won’t end with the US Congress’ term. They’ll come again, and you might be seen as complicit. Your ancestors defeated the Fulani without southern support; with our support, you can win.

Consider: do you want your resources used for a united Nigeria or your freedom?

Sincerely,
Osinachi Obi Njoku
