Before and when the war broke out in 1967 colonel odimegwu ojukwu tried to extend his hand of friendship to the west (yoruba land) to form a formidable alliance which led to his releasing chief obafemi Awolowo from Calabar prison and when Awolowo arrived lagos his mindset changed not because of the offer that was before him from Gowon or ojukwu but because of the previous betrayal he got from dr.nnamdi azikiwe when he left the west to form alliance with the north Which produced the first republic that made Dr nnamdi azikiwe the first president of nigeria.

When Awolowo disappointed Colonel odimegwu ojukwu,the BIAFRAN general then drew up a plan to capture lagos with major victor Banjo as the man to lead the assault.

They quickly swing into action as the biafran army crossed the Niger.

When the BIAFRAN ARMY got to Agbor they split into 3 battalions.

The 13th battalion moved to Auchi,Agenebode and okene while the 18th battalion marched to capture Warri,Sapele and Ugheli.

The most powerful battalion was the 12th battalion because it was to capture lagos,

FEAR GRIPPED THE ENTIRE WORLD WHEN THE BIAFRAN ARMY OVER RAN THE WHOLE OF MID WESTERN REGION WITHIN AN ESTIMATED TIME OF 12 HOURS AND WAS MATCHING TOWARDS LAGOS WHEN BRITAIN PLAYED A FAST ONE WHILE GOVERNOR DAVID EJOOR OF MIDWESTERN RAN AWAY.

When the army reached ORE waiting for the orders to March to lagos from their commanders major victor Banjo and Ifeajuna another evil surfaced and that was the argument between Victor Banjo and Odimegwu ojukwu on who will take over the command of midwestern region but unknown to general ojukwu victor Banjo and Ifeajuna were already having a secret meeting with the then british High Commissioner to nigeria DAVID HUNT at the palace of the Oba of benin with the Oba EHENEDEN EREDUWA of benin in attendance.

After some days in ORE the BIAFRAN ARMY was ordered by Victor Banjo and Ifeajuna to retreat back to benin and while this was going on the nigerian army started mobilizing and reinforcing.

I BELIEVE VICTOR BANJO AND IFEAJUNA WERE NOT ACTING WITH THEIR CLEAR EYES KNOWING HOW WITCHCRAFT RUNS IN THAT KINGDOM.

victor Banjo and Ifeajuna sealed a deal with the Oba EHENEDEN EREDUWA of benin and the british high commissioner david hunt for the biafran soldiers to retreat back to onitsha and overthrow the government of BIAFRA led by general odimegwu ojukwu but ojukwu was already aware of all their plot and he waited for their arrival before publicly executing them.

While some soldiers of the BIAFRAN ARMY was still retreating the nigerian army then launched a deadly attack that led to the death of many BIAFRA soldiers especially men of the 12th battalion.

As nigerian army was now pushing the BIAFRAN ARMY back, the OBA EHENEDEN EREDUWA of benin kingdom then gave an order that all the people of the eastern part should be chased out of benin and that anyone who refused to leave should be executed.

When this order was passed the people of ESAN,UBIAJA AND IGBANKE all started to hide the igbo people in their communities but the finger pointers from benin started fishing them out and the law then was that when you are caught harboring an igboman both the igboman and you are gone.
