For the past three years, it has become of frenzy of impersonation with anything that has to do with IPOB for the criminals and agent provocateurs. Recently, it appears that their efforts in this regard has desperately quadrupled. From claiming to be commanders of Eastern Security Network issuing travel advice in Biafraland, threatening Ndigbo (Igbo people) in far away Kwara state to give them money, to converting their former burner accounts to the name of the IPOB Media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful or as ESN commanders on social media.
Family Writers Press International have come across another impersonation scheme with social media handle, claiming to be the IPOB media and publicity secretary on Facebook, and confirmation from the IPOB Leadership about its authenticity have to inform and educate Biafrans that Emma Powerful does not operate any social media account either on Facebook, X or a whole host of other social platforms.
The IPOB media and publicity secretary as widely known has his/ her identity, anonymous and the job is to write and publish press statements to the public when authorized by the IPOB Leadership. He/She does not operate any social media account as that negates the holisticity of the office in question. How the press statements is disseminated to the general public including to Nigeria media outlets is determined by the IPOB Leadership.
A preliminary study of this impersonating Facebook page shows it has been existing since 2017 under the said name. It has evaded attention, and probably had some of our genuine Biafrans thinking that it is actually run by the IPOB media and publicity secretary. The said account has a Telegram channel which according to Telegram time-check, was last visited by its owner(s) a week ago. And also an email address attached with the same name of the IPOB media and publicity secretary. This is a gross violation and impersonation!
Three years ago, Post-Onyendu's rendition from Kenya, Radio Biafra and the Eastern Security Network were respectively impersonated. It took a popular announcement by Mazi Chinasa Nworu stating that the ESN does not have a social media account. The impersonators having been busted was forced to change the name of the said pages. One after a lamentation note on the said page - about how exposing their impersonating gimmick is an act of jealousy - swiftly changed the page name to "a New Nigeria Is Possible". How convenient!
It is safe to say that these pages are under the direct, active ownership and supervision of the Nigerian DSS. And, as such not are they are not only misinformation machineries meant to mislead Biafrans and the global public, but also a security threat aimed at deceiving Biafrans into unknownly tossing sensitive personal, organization informations which could put them or other IPOB family members in harm's way.
Biafrans should as a matter of urgency massively report this page for impersonation to the Facebook/Meta Authority. And be vigilant to not fall prey into the traps of the Nigerian Security agencies whom are desperately exploring ways to continue abducting, disappearing and extrajudicially killing unsuspecting members of Biafrans with the hope of 'finishing off' IPOB members and movement. Woe betide them. woefully they have failed. Because IPOB is the people and the people are IPOB.
However, the witch-hunt is not yet over. And as such Biafrans must be guided and advised to stay careful. Do not send emails to such accounts or subscribe to whatsapp or Telegram groups.
As initially stated and confirmed by IPOB, the ESN - commanders and operatives alike , M-Branch, Emma Powerful, do not operate on social media. Only IPOB principal officers, social media activists do. The aforementioned institutions offices takes direct instruction from IPOB before they take any action. And, even their actions are designed and guided by the IPOB Leadership. They do not operate freewill or independently and as such cannot run social media accounts.
