We visited our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, today, being the 15th day of May 2023, at the DSS Headquarters, Abuja, to specifically brief him on the outcome of the Supreme Court hearing on his matter, last Thursday, the 11th day of May 2023.
Onyendu understands that the Federal Government of Nigeria is adopting every delay tactics to continue to keep him unconstitutionally in the DSS gulag, where he has been kept in solitary confinement since 2021, despite the Appellate Court’s judgment, which directed for his unconditional release.
Also, Onyendu was briefed on the outcome of today’s proceedings in his case before the Federal High Court Abuja, ably led by our indefatigable lead counsel – Prof Mike Ozekome, SAN – against the Federal Government of Nigeria for damages arising from the egregious violation of relevant international and local laws in his criminal abduction from Kenya and consequent extraordinary rendition.
It is pertinent to emphasize that the brutality of the lawless action of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the infamous criminal abduction and extraordinary rendition of Onyendu is further underlined by the fact that an unprecedented order of the Court of Appeal also facilitated his continued incarceration in the DSS gulag, which order was predicated on purely civil precedents, as there is no existing criminal authorities or even laws that supports restrictions against a person’s constitutionally guaranteed right to liberty, as has been done in Onyendu’s case.
Onyendu narrated to me how the DSS has deliberately failed/refused to produce him for routine medical examination for two weeks, after the expiration of a 45-day medical appointment, which was scheduled by their in-house medical doctors. The DSS has presently deepened their seemingly acts of torture against Onyendu by criminally denying him medical care even when what is available in their facility is not sufficient. However, we discussed other legitimate and legally sanctionable strategies for expeditious results within the confines of relavant laws of the land.
Onyendu is strong in his resolve for a better tomorrow for his people, as his spirit has never been dampened by the desperation of the Federal Government of Nigeria in frustrating every judicial process leading to his release. He is optimistic that it will surely end in praises.
Furthermore, Onyendu implores Ezigbo UmuChineke to continue to abide by your peaceful conduct regardless of the situation, he maintained that you should not be derailed from the peaceful path. It is only a matter of time!
Thank you all, Ezigbo UmuChineke, and remain blessed.
We move!
Signed:
